The Agency for Renewable Resources ((ドイツ語:Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V.)), abbreviated FNR, is an agency of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany. Founded in 1993, its role is to coordinate research, development and demonstration projects in the field of renewable resources. It is a department of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. The FNR's main office is located in Gülzow, a suburb of Hamburg, Germany.〔(Official website of the FNR ) retrieved 30-May-2012〕 The primary task of the FNR is the administrative management of scientific research projects. Current knowledge on the subject is collected and made available to interested scientists, individuals, politicians, business and media representatives. It also organizes scientific conferences. To draw attention to the potential of renewable resources to the general public, the FNR participates in demonstrations at fairs and exhibitions. Coordination of various renewable projects sponsored by the European Union is also part of its activities.〔FNR Factsheet at the (European Union website ) retrieved 30-May-2012〕 The FNR has 65 institutional members, including four German Federal Ministries, 16 Ministries of the German States, and representatives of agricultural, industrial and economical associations across Europe. Due to the federalized structure of Germany, renewable resources and related activities take place on different levels and under different umbrellas. The membership structure of FNR is therefore designed to encourage a smooth exchange of information across these agencies. The FNR has around 50 employees wherein 16 persons working on bioenergy related activities.
